VACCINE UPDATE 9/19/2023
The 2023-24 COVID Vaccine is a new formulation that has been updated to more closely match the currently circulating variants and it is recommended that most individuals receive the updated vaccine. Full recommendations can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/.../201.../vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html
As of today (9/19), local providers do not yet have the vaccine in stock to provide. We do expect the vaccine to arrive soon and have been told that local pharmacies are planning to provide it once they receive it. Once clinics are scheduled, they will be updated on our website at: www.pacificcountycovid19.com/get-vaccinated and we will also share that information here.
Moving forward, the vaccine has been privatized meaning that providers are no longer receiving it for free to give out for free. This means that insurance (including Medicare/Medicaid) will generally be required. The Health Dept does expect to receive vaccines that we will be able to provide for free for those who are underinsured or uninsured and will plan vaccine clinics for those folks as soon as we receive the vaccine. Again, we will advertise those clinics on our website and here once they are scheduled. We appreciate your patience and please feel free to reach out with any questions.
